Mayors Christmas Message

Published: 18 Dec 25

As I write this message I am looking at the Christmas tree that we bought earlier in the day. Picking out the tree is one of the things I most enjoy about Christmas. Is it perfectly symmetrical – no. Is it just the right height – maybe. As I look at it I think Christmas trees are a lot like people, beautiful in their imperfection. Each one celebrated as unique, a one off contributing something special to the town in which we all live. The world is a bit of a scary place at present but in spite of this all of Hornsea rose to the occasion this year to mark VE Day and VJ Day in style. Our amazing volunteers worked hard to put on some fantastic events where we could all come together and celebrate but also remember the sacrifices made by those to whom we owe our freedom. As we mark this year’s festive season with gifts and wonderful food let’s not forget those less fortunate wherever they are who need our kindness and compassion more than ever. I wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and prosperous 2026. Cllr Elaine Young - Mayor of Hornsea Read More...
