COMMUNITY SPEED WATCH - VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED

Hornsea Town Council recently agreed to take the lead in establishing a volunteer group to operate a Community Speed Watch scheme in Hornsea. A minimum of 6 volunteers are required to kick start the scheme - 4 willing residents have already agreed to take part and the Town Council would like to hear from anyone else interested in joining the group. You will need to commit to a 1 hour desk based training course followed by roadside training, both provided by Humberside Police (date/time/location tbc). Following training the volunteer group will carry out speed checks on vehicles at various points within the town. MAYOR AND DEPUTY MAYOR

At a meeting of the Hornsea Town Council on Monday evening Councillor Kevin Nicholson tendered his resignation from the position of Deputy Mayor with immediate effect due to work commitments. The Town Council thanked Councillor Nicholson sincerely for his civic contribution since May 2019. Councillor Nicholson will remain as a Hornsea Town Councillor. Councillor Tim Bunch was elected as Deputy Mayor with immediate effect until the end of this civic year in May 2020 and was nominated to retain the Deputy Mayor role in the new civic year 2020/2021. The current Mayor of Hornsea, Councillor Andrew Eastwood, was nominated to the role of Mayor for for a second consecutive civic year 2020/2021.

The skate park and play areas are checked every week day by maintenance staff. We would like to reminder users that they MUST ensure that they wear the appropriate safety clothing when using the skate park as instructed by the nearby signage.

METAL DETECTING

Hornsea Town Council does not allow the use of metal detectors within Hall Garth Park. Anyone searching on land without permission is committing trespass. Anyone removing objects from land without permission is committing theft. It is illegal to use a metal detector on the Scheduled Monument area within Hall Garth Park without permission from English Heritage. Holes in the ground left following excavation are a danger to other park users.
