HORNSEA ALLOTMENTS COMMUNITY COMPOST SCHEME (HACCS)

The Hornsea Community Compost Scheme has now been in operation for five years and over that time it has processed hundreds of tonnes of garden waste collected from housing close to the Atwick Road allotment site, into good quality soil improver. the soil improver has then been made available to the local community and the allotment plot holders. (The scheme is supported by the East Riding Council).

The scheme is run by a small group of volunteers that give a few hours on a Monday morning 09.00 to 12.00, Spring to Autumn, to collect and process the garden waste. Sadly the number of active volunteers has now declined and we are now looking for more help to ensure this valuable community scheme continues.

If you would be willing to give some support to HACCS you would be most welcome (free tea/coffee and biscuits), a part morning, a whole session, every week or once in a while, please come along and meet a friendly bunch of gardeners.
