Youth Outreach Project 2019

Hornsea Town Council and The Youth & Family Support (YFS) service of the East Riding of Yorkshire Council (ERYC) are very pleased to announce the launch of a new project for spring 2019 – Youth Outreach Project.

Hornsea Town Council has been successful in gaining grants from Awards for All and Withernwick Wind Farm Community Fund to fund the project for one year.

The Youth Outreach Project aims to engage with 13 to 18 year olds where they are, whether that is street corners or parks. The Youth Outreach Project will support young people to reduce their ASB, provide some diversionary activities, signpost to other services and have meaningful discussions that may design new projects.

The project will be supported by partners that include YFS and Safer Communities of ERYC, Volunteen (ERVAS) and Humberside Police.

Town Councillor - commented: “We supported a pilot earlier this year of The Youth Outreach Project and found groups of young people engaged well with the staff. The young people showed a positive attitude, doing litter picks and having fun with sumo suits and other sports. The project will support Hornsea Town Council to develop the skills of the young people that reside in Hornsea enabling the young people to take ownership of the town and their future.”

Hornsea Town Council would like to thank Awards for All, the Withernwick Wind Farm Fund, ERYC Youth and Family Services team, the Police and other agencies involved who have enabled this project and continue to provide support.
